CLEARING
Travis County is two different clearing jobs with a city in the middle. West of MoPac it is Hill Country limestone and Ashe juniper on slope. East of I-35 it is blackland and sandy loam on flat farm ground going to rooftops. The machine that suits one is often wrong for the other, and we run both.
Bee Cave, Lakeway, Spicewood, Steiner Ranch, the 620 and 71 corridors. A few inches of soil over rock, Ashe juniper as the dominant problem, and grades steep enough to rule out the biggest machines on parts of a tract. Cedar dies at the stump once the stem is off, so the work holds, but the seed in the soil comes back as a carpet you handle at ankle height in year three. Where ledge sits shallow across a whole footprint, rock milling beats a hammer.
Manor, Del Valle, Elgin side, Pflugerville, the 290 and 130 corridors. Deeper soil, shrink swell clay in the blackland and Carrizo sand further east, and the buyer is usually a builder or a developer rather than a homeowner with a view. Pads here get built up in compacted lifts rather than cut into the native, and drainage away from the slab is not optional.
Austin has tree ordinances and protected size thresholds that rural Travis County does not. Anything inside the city limit tied to a build runs through permitting, and heritage trees carry real protection. Ask before you clear inside the limit; we will tell you plainly when a job needs the city rather than just a machine.
The default across most of the county. One machine grinds standing brush where it stands, nothing is hauled off and nothing is burned, which matters more here than most places because burn bans are common and haul routes run through neighbourhoods. See forestry mulching.

Priced in machine days, the same statewide. A high horsepower mulcher is $4,000 per day plus transport, a skid steer mulcher is $3,000 per day with transport included, and dozer or excavator work is $3,000 per day plus transport. One day minimum on every machine. West county cedar on slope usually runs more days per acre than flat east county brush.
Outside city limits on your own rural land, generally no, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside Austin city limits it is a different matter: there are tree ordinances and protected size thresholds, and clearing tied to a build goes through permitting. Check before you clear inside a city limit.

Not from the stumps. Ashe juniper does not resprout once the stem is off below the lowest green limb. What comes back is seedlings from seed already in the soil, which is a mowing problem in year three rather than a clearing problem, and far cheaper to stay on top of than to let close again.
