Getting the Grass Back

Every rancher knows the math. Brush encroachment quietly takes a pasture a few percent at a time until the county appraiser still calls it grazing land but the cows cannot find the grass. Mesquite pulls the water, cedar shades out everything under it, and the carrying capacity that used to run a herd now runs a fraction of one. Reclaiming that ground is usually the cheapest grazing land a ranch can buy, because you already own it.

Our machines grind the brush standing, right where it grows. The root mat stays so the soil does not blow or wash, the mulch layer holds moisture through the summer and feeds the ground as it breaks down, and grass reestablishes through the chips the first good season. Fence lines come back in sight, tanks catch water again, and the ground is grazeable the next year, not three years and two burn piles from now.

What Pasture Reclamation Costs

Transparent day rates: $3,000 per day for the skid steer mulcher with transport included, or $4,000 per day plus transport for the high horsepower dedicated mulcher, which does the heavy lifting on most ranch work. Light brush runs 4 to 6 acres a day on the dedicated machine, moderate 3 to 4, and heavy older growth around 2.
