A year of cuttings in long rows

Olympia Hills had been staging brush and trees along the edges of the property as they cut them through the year, laid out in windrows. It is a sensible way to stage material and a difficult way to leave it. Windrows sit at the boundary where the course meets the tree line, which is exactly where they are most visible.

By the time we came out there were six acres of them.

Two days, working the rows end to end

The Tigercat M726G worked the windrows down row by row. Windrows are actually good ground for a mulcher because the material is already gathered and lined up, so the machine can work continuously instead of hunting scattered debris. Six acres went in two days.

Keeping the mulch off the course

The care on this job was in the discharge. Mulch thrown onto a fairway or a green is a problem for the grounds crew and a bad look for us, so the machine was positioned to throw material back into the cleared ground and away from play every pass. Slower, and the right way to do it on a course that is open for business.
