Rural Palo Pinto County clearing on your own land needs no permit, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside Santo city limits, clearing tied to a build runs through the normal permitting process. If your place carries an agricultural exemption, keeping it is worth a call to the county appraisal district before you change how the ground is used.
Estimates usually happen within a few days of your call. Most residential jobs run one to three days on site, and larger acreage moves at several acres a day with the dedicated mulchers. One local quirk: post oak sand works wet a good deal better than clay does, so we lose fewer days to rain here than crews do east of the Trinity. You get a start window with your quote and a heads up before we roll in.
Priced by the machine day. A high horsepower mulcher is $4,000 per day plus transport, a skid steer mulcher is $3,000 per day with transport included, and dozer or excavator work is $3,000 per day plus transport. One day minimum on every machine. Most jobs around Santo are one or two days.

Yes. Old push piles grind faster than standing timber because the material is already down, and it saves you a burn permit and a weather window. Nothing gets hauled off.
Pasture work is about what grows back, so mesquite crowns usually have to come out or you are doing it again in a few years. Homesite work is about what it looks like and how it drains, so it is more selective and finishes cleaner. Same machines, different approach and different price.
On rural Palo Pinto County land you own, generally no, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside the Santo city limit, clearing tied to a build goes through normal permitting. Check before you clear inside the limit.
Cut cedar does not resprout from the stump the way mesquite does, so mulching it is a real fix rather than a delay. What returns is seedlings out of the seed bank and off neighbouring ground, which is a mowing question rather than a reclearing one. Keep after the small stuff and the job holds for years.
Less of a problem here than out on the blackland. Sandy ground around Santo drains fast and we can usually work within a day or two of rain. Creek bottoms and low ground are the exception and we will say so when we walk it.
