For material up to 8 inches in diameter, our skid steer mulchers fill the gap. Rural Young County clearing on your own land needs no permit, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside Olney city limits, clearing tied to a build runs through the normal permitting process. If your place carries an agricultural exemption, keeping it is worth a call to the county appraisal district before you change how the ground is used.
Estimates usually happen within a few days of your call. Most residential jobs run one to three days on site, and larger acreage moves at several acres a day with the dedicated mulchers. One local quirk: post oak sand works wet a good deal better than clay does, so we lose fewer days to rain here than crews do east of the Trinity. You get a start window with your quote and a heads up before we roll in.
Priced by the machine day. A high horsepower mulcher is $4,000 per day plus transport, a skid steer mulcher is $3,000 per day with transport included, and dozer or excavator work is $3,000 per day plus transport. One day minimum on every machine. Most jobs around Olney are one or two days.
Different parts of it, different ways. Grazing ground is worth taking properly, crown out, so the grass actually comes back and stays. Hunting ground is worth thinning and cutting lanes through while leaving the cover and travel corridors. Clearing it all serves neither. We walk it and split it with you.
Yes. Old push piles grind faster than standing timber because the material is already down, and it saves you a burn permit and a weather window. Nothing gets hauled off.
Done right it helps both. Solid mesquite carries very little browse and quail need bare ground to move on and cover to duck into, not a wall of brush. Thinning and cutting lanes puts sunlight on the ground and brings forbs back. Clearing every acre would hurt, and we will say so.

Cut cedar does not resprout from the stump the way mesquite does, so mulching it is a real fix rather than a delay. Less of a problem here than out on the blackland. Sandy ground around Olney drains fast and we can usually work within a day or two of rain. Creek bottoms and low ground are the exception and we will say so when we walk it.
