Rural Jack County clearing on your own land needs no permit, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside Jermyn city limits, clearing tied to a build runs through the normal permitting process. If your place carries an agricultural exemption, keeping it is worth a call to the county appraisal district before you change how the ground is used.
Estimates usually happen within a few days of your call. Most residential jobs run one to three days on site, and larger acreage moves at several acres a day with the dedicated mulchers. One local quirk: post oak sand works wet a good deal better than clay does, so we lose fewer days to rain here than crews do east of the Trinity. You get a start window with your quote and a heads up before we roll in.
Priced by the machine day. A high horsepower mulcher is $4,000 per day plus transport, a skid steer mulcher is $3,000 per day with transport included, and dozer or excavator work is $3,000 per day plus transport. One day minimum on every machine. Most jobs around Jermyn are one or two days.
Not all at once. We walk it with you and pick the ground that will actually respond, usually pasture worth grazing and the access you need, and leave the rest for later or for good. Clearing everything on a big place is rarely the best use of the money and we will tell you that up front.
Yes. Old push piles grind faster than standing timber because the material is already down, and it saves you a burn permit and a weather window. Nothing gets hauled off.
Yes, and out here it is some of the most useful work we do. Mesquite and cedar grown through the wire come out and you get a line back you can see down, run a hot wire along and rebuild on. Clearing before you fence beats cutting a line through standing brush afterward.
On rural Jack County land you own, generally no, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside the Jermyn city limit, clearing tied to a build goes through normal permitting. Check before you clear inside the limit.
Cut cedar does not resprout from the stump the way mesquite does, so mulching it is a real fix rather than a delay. What returns is seedlings out of the seed bank and off neighbouring ground, which is a mowing question rather than a reclearing one. Keep after the small stuff and the job holds for years.
Less of a problem here than out on the blackland. Sandy ground around Jermyn drains fast and we can usually work within a day or two of rain. Creek bottoms and low ground are the exception and we will say so when we walk it.
