A lot of land clearing companies rent whatever the equipment yard has that week. We own purpose-built forestry machines and match them to your terrain. Not sure which machine your property needs? Try our cost calculator for an instant answer.
Our high horsepower dedicated mulchers run 300+ HP and chew through heavy cedar and mesquite at a pace no skid steer can match. That is how big tracts get cleared in days instead of weeks. We bring these machines when your material runs bigger than 8 inches in diameter and the property has access for an 11 foot wide machine.
For material up to 8 inches in diameter, our skid steer mulchers fill the gap. Subdivision lots, tree preservation, tight fence lines, and finish work around structures, they get in where the big machines cannot. Low ground pressure protects your topsoil, and they clear selectively around the oaks you want to keep.
The photographs on this page are from clearing work on Texas ground of the same kind. For documented jobs with acreage, machines and day counts, see 3 acres selectively cleared at Cleburne and 800 acres cleared at Brownwood.

Our crew and machines do the work, selectively and cleanly. The mulch stays right where it falls, protecting the soil and feeding the grass. No burn piles, and no haul off needed.
You get open ground, clean sightlines, and land you can actually use again. If your project calls for full site prep, we handle that too.
Every place is different, so the number comes down to acreage, how thick the post oak, cedar and mesquite has gotten, what you want left standing, and how the machines get through your gates. Transport to Wise County is built into the quote up front, so the number you are given is the number you pay.
Most companies make you chase a number. Here is ours. The machine we bring depends on the size of your material and the access on your property.

Rural Wise County clearing on your own land needs no permit, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside Lake Bridgeport city limits, clearing tied to a build runs through the normal permitting process. If your place carries an agricultural exemption, keeping it is worth a call to the county appraisal district before you change how the ground is used.
Estimates usually happen within a few days of your call. Most residential jobs run one to three days on site, and larger acreage moves at several acres a day with the dedicated mulchers. One local quirk: post oak sand works wet a good deal better than clay does, so we lose fewer days to rain here than crews do east of the Trinity. You get a start window with your quote and a heads up before we roll in.
Priced by the machine day. A high horsepower mulcher is $4,000 per day plus transport, a skid steer mulcher is $3,000 per day with transport included, and dozer or excavator work is $3,000 per day plus transport. One day minimum on every machine. Most jobs around Lake Bridgeport are one or two days.
Yes, and on these lots it is the whole point. The mulching head takes cedar, greenbriar and suckers and leaves the post oaks and blackjacks standing. Mark what you want kept before we start, or walk it with the operator on day one.
Yes. Old push piles grind faster than standing timber because the material is already down, and it saves you a burn permit and a weather window. Nothing gets hauled off.
It helps a great deal. A closed cedar understory is a ladder that carries fire from the ground into the crowns of your oaks. Taking it out and leaving a mulch layer breaks that connection and gives you defensible space around a house or cabin. It is one of the better reasons to do this work.
On rural Wise County land you own, generally no, and agricultural work is exempt from most regulation in Texas. Inside the Lake Bridgeport city limit, clearing tied to a build goes through normal permitting. Check before you clear inside the limit.
Cut cedar does not resprout from the stump the way mesquite does, so mulching it is a real fix rather than a delay. What returns is seedlings out of the seed bank and off neighbouring ground, which is a mowing question rather than a reclearing one. Keep after the small stuff and the job holds for years.
Less of a problem here than out on the blackland. Sandy ground around Lake Bridgeport drains fast and we can usually work within a day or two of rain. Creek bottoms and low ground are the exception and we will say so when we walk it.
Yes, along with the rest of Wise County. Transport is a written line on the quote reflecting the distance.
It is mulched in place and left as a layer on the soil, which holds ground through a hard rain and slows what tries to come back. No hauling, no burning, no disposal fees.
