For material up to 8 inches in diameter, our skid steer mulchers fill the gap. That is the classic north Hill County job. We cut a corridor wide enough to work both sides of the wire, take the mesquite, hackberry, and elm out of it, and grind everything in place. You end up with a fence line you can actually rebuild instead of a windrow you now have to deal with.
Blackland clay will take all the organic matter you can give it. A mulch mat left on the surface cuts the cracking and crusting that bare clay does in a dry August, holds moisture, and feeds the soil as it breaks down. Hauling that material off your own farm is paying to make your dirt worse.
